Our story
DWS Record began in 2018 as DWS Management, founded by producer, composer and audio engineer Dwi Sumantri. What started as a management and recording operation in Bekasi grew into a full creative ecosystem: a record label that signs and releases artists, an artist-development arm that mentors emerging talent, and a production house that handles songwriting, recording, mixing and mastering entirely in-house. Today the label works with a growing roster of Indonesian artists across rock, indie pop, hip rock and emo, and its catalogue has surpassed 410,000 streams on Spotify.
What we do
We build careers, not one-off releases. For our artists that means end-to-end support under one roof — from the first demo through arrangement, recording, mixing, mastering, artwork, branding and digital distribution to Spotify, YouTube and other platforms. Because every stage is handled by the same team, artists keep creative control and a consistent standard of quality across everything they release. We operate on artist-first terms: transparent royalties, honest partnership, and full creative respect.
What we publish on this site
Beyond releasing music, dwsrecord.com is also a small publication for musicians. Drawing on nearly two decades of hands-on studio and industry experience, we write practical, honest guides about the parts of a music career that are rarely explained clearly — how record-label contracts actually work, how music distribution and royalties are calculated, the real difference between mixing and mastering, how to record at home, how to build an artistic identity, and how to protect your mental health as a working musician. Every article is written from first-hand experience running the label, not assembled from generic templates.
Who operates this website
This website is owned and operated by DWS Record, founded and led by Dwi Sumantri in Bekasi, Indonesia. Dwi is a music producer, composer, arranger and audio engineer with roughly two decades in music — from drumming in metal bands to engineering at BeatSpace Studio to producing the label's roster today. He is the author of the guides published here and is personally reachable through our contact page. We believe readers deserve to know there is a real, accountable person behind what they read.
